Stewart Cameron

Kiwetinohk Acahkos (North Star), also known as Stewart Cameron, is a Treaty 8 rights holder from Saulteau First Nations, of Anishinaabe-Cree and Haudenosaunee lineage, and of the Maugwa Clan (Saulteau First Nations), Treaty 8. His teachings are grounded in lifelong learning from his late grandmother beginning in the 1960s, along with Elder teachings, ceremony, and lived experience.

He served eight years as Chief of Saulteau First Nations and four of those years concurrently as Tribal Chief of the Treaty 8 Tribal Association in northeastern British Columbia. Following leadership, he worked for approximately six years as a strategic advisor to Treaty 8 Chiefs, supporting rights recognition, governance, and Treaty-based approaches.

His work focuses on sacred relational law, the true spirit and intent of Treaty, and practical pathways for living Treaty forward through Indigenous governance grounded in responsibility to all life and future generations.
